How to Love Your Home

Everyone always wants more. But that might not always be possible or feasible. There are simple ways you can learn to love your home, even if it isn't exactly your dream home.

1. Declutter - Get rid of anything that doesn't make you happy. This can be anything from too many kitchen appliances you don't use anymore to stuff you've accumulated from friends and family.

2. Create a laundry system - If all of your laundry is finished but you can't find space to put it away, it's time to purge. It can be hard to get rid of things when there is sentimental attachment. But sometimes it's harder to live with them taking up space with no use.

3. Make your bed every day - It sounds so simple but so many of us just jump up and start our days. A tidy house can really make a positive impact on your overall happiness.

4. Bring nature indoors - A few living plants and fresh flowers can spruce up any space. Not to mention the benefits of live plants in doors (there are a lot of them)!

5. Let the light in - Keep shutters, blinds and curtains open to brighten up your space and your mood. And when the sun goes down, create ambiance with beautiful lamps or candles.

It might not be the right time for you to invest in big ticket maintenance items for your home, like a new roof, windows, or gutters. But incorporating little changes on the inside can help you still enjoy it until the time is right to fix up the outside.
