10 Questions You Need to Ask Your Roofing Contractor

If you're looking to have work done on your home and have someone coming out for an estimate, don't stop there. Get multiple estimates!

Get as many estimates as you can. You'll want to make sure you're going to work well with the contractor, that the contractor is reliable and responds in a timely manner, listens to your wants and needs, follows through with what is promised, and works hard to make sure YOU, the consumer, are happy.

Feel free to ask lots of questions like, how much experience do you have? How long will it take for you to do the job? When can I expect you to arrive? Is there a warranty? What's included in the warranty? Is it transferable if I decide to sell my home? What materials will you be replacing? Will there be any additional costs or fees? Will you pull the permit or will that be my responsibility? Do I really need a full roof replacement or can I just get it repaired?

Most contractors will come out free of charge to assess the project. This is your chance to get all your questions answered. Be persistent. Get the answers you need and don't feel sorry about it. Replacing your roof is a huge expense but it's also an investment.

Getting roof repairs done as soon as possible will extend the life of your roof. Getting it replaced when it's time will save you a lot of money in the long run and will protect what matters most, what's on the inside.

If you're curious about your roof, don't hesitate to speak with a professional. That's what they are there for. Any roofing contractor should be happy to answer any and all questions. It's your roof and your money. Get the answers you need before you give them the green light.
